Elegant restaurant in West End

"Cicchetti by San Carlo - London Piccadilly" in London, England, is an elegant restaurant that belongs to the renowned San Carlo group and has made a name for itself in the heart of the bustling West End of the city. It offers a modern interpretation of Venetian cuisine and is famous for its "Cicchetti" – small, flavorful dishes that are perfect for sharing or enjoying alone. The concept originates from the traditional bars of Venice, where such bites are typically served with a glass of wine, and has been developed here into a stylish, all-day dining experience. The restaurant caters to a wide clientele, from theater-goers to tourists and locals seeking a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Venetian cuisine in London

The menu is inspired by the seasons and is regularly updated to utilize the freshest ingredients, many of which are imported directly from Italian markets. A highlight is the "Truffle Ravioli," a dish featuring delicate, handmade ravioli filled with a creamy truffle mixture, served with a delicate sauce – a delight for lovers of intense flavors. Equally popular is the "Salt Baked Sea Bass," a whole sea bass baked in a salt crust and filleted at the table, which impresses not only in taste but also provides a small spectacle. For meat lovers, the "Ossobuco" stands out, a slowly braised veal shank with a rich sauce that melts in the mouth. Vegetarian options like the "Pumpkin Risotto," creamy and with a hint of autumn spices, showcase the versatility of the cuisine. To finish, desserts like the "Panna Cotta," with its silky texture and fruity accompaniment, entice guests.

Cicchetti dishes for sharing

The ambiance at "Cicchetti by San Carlo" is a blend of elegance and lightness. The interior is characterized by bright colors, large surfaces of light Italian marble, and an open kitchen that conveys transparency and liveliness. Guests can choose to sit at tables or at the striking marble counter, which adds a modern touch to the space. Its proximity to the theaters of the West End makes it an ideal spot for a meal before or after a show, while the relaxed atmosphere is also perfect for a casual lunch or dinner with friends. The music and soundscape can be a bit loud on busy days, which, however, adds to the vibrant character of the location.

Authentic Italian cuisine London

The restaurant places great importance on authenticity and quality. The ingredients are carefully selected – from burrata from Naples to bottarga from Sardinia and truffles from Alba – and the Italian touch is evident in every dish, thanks to a team led by Italian chefs and managers. The beverage offerings perfectly complement the food, featuring an extensive wine list that includes Italian classics like Chianti or Prosecco, as well as refreshing cocktails like the Aperol Spritz, which enhances the light, sociable atmosphere. Service is often described as friendly and charming, although it can occasionally come across as a bit hurried on particularly busy days.

Thank you again for your warm welcome and delicious food (pizza, pasta, gnocchis!) on a busy Saturday night - you welcomed us even without a booking

Lovely little restaurant in Piccadilly . Had coffee and desserts which to be honest I could have kept eating till closing time!!! Panacota and tiramasu were authentic and a real feel good dessert that can be enjoyed at any time of the day. I always look for places that takes you to another level and I was suddenly in Italy.

Plates are small, we have to order a carbonara and ravioli, and we have to order a pizza in order to fill full. Prices are also fair so we have paid 30-35 pounds per person. Food is good so there is an option to Piccadilly square.

Locale molto carino! Locale consigliato!

Disappointing Experience – Rude Staff & Overcrowded I had high hopes for Cicchetti Italian in Piccadilly, but unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. From the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of frustrating. We had a reservation, yet the rude lady at the front desk made us wait over 45 minutes past our booked time without any apology or explanation. The restaurant was crammed like sardines, with barely any room to move or enjoy our meal comfortably. When we were finally seated, the service felt rushed, as if they were just trying to turn tables as quickly as possible. The food itself was underwhelming—far from the high quality you'd expect for the price. Dishes arrived lukewarm, lacking flavor, and were clearly made in haste. Overall, it was a stressful, uncomfortable, and overpriced experience. There are far better Italian restaurants in London—I won’t be returning.

Lovely food and service. However, as we were sitting at the bar this time, it was very annoying that the gentleman behind the bar was unboxing new glasses all the time, making a great fuss and continuously speaking loud (like fighting) with his colleagues. We did not enjoy the atmosphere much. I recommend you select to sit at a table instead. Other than that the restaurant is fine.

Outstanding experience every time. The food is delicious, excellent wine list and if you are lucky enough to have Giuseppe serve you, you will feel like VIPs the entire evening. We went as a group of 6 adults with one 5 year old and he was so generous with his time, making sure she felt like the most special person at the table. Amazing Giuseppe and amazing Cicchetti.

A very good choice for Italian food in Piccadilly. Portions are small, so you need to order 4-6 dishes for two people. All dishes are from very good to excellent. Prime location.
